Age is just a number that means nothing in soap operas!

How many people go from 6 to 16 in a day?

What with all the kids/grandkids and those who are SORAS’D, wouldn’t Eric really be around 125 in soap years?

When Y&R Soras the Summer character turned 8, her mom was pregnant!

One Eppy was 7=8 & Mommy was pregnant & the next Eppy was 15-16 & Mommy is still pregnant (both flat as a pancake

eppy’s)& then unfortunately in the same eppy mama miscarried at the end of eppy or at the very end!

Age doesn’t matter at the beginning of the show Brooke had just graduated from college and Ridge was about 7 years older, 7 Ridge still is

older than her but only played by an actor younger than RM!

And it really doesn’t matter how old the character is supposed to be…if they can get that for an actor or an actress

was on a soap opera B4 and has fans who will just “plug in” the new one!

Anything 2 brings more fans to their soap operas!

Oh, and they seem to love stealing stars from other soaps… Y&R/GH were in a kind of star

steal mad thing with srats trading places bt. the 2!

So Eric is 125 in soap years once again!

Eric Forrester

B&B character since 1987

character of a soap opera

Eric Forrester is a fictional character on the American CBS daytime soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful, played by John McCook. He made his screen debut on March 23, 1987, the first episode of the series.[2] The character appeared briefly in The Young and the Restless in 1993, 1995, 1996, 2005, 2008, 2013, 2017, and 2021. McCook had also played Lance Prentiss from 1976 to 1980. Many of Eric’s storylines revolve around his relationships with Stephanie Forrester, Brooke Logan, Sheila Carter, Donna Logan, Beth Henderson, Jackie Marone, Quinn Fuller, Taylor Hayes, and various other women.

Eric and his wife Stephanie are co-founders of Los Angeles-based fashion house Forrester Creations with Eric as lead designer. They have five children: Ridge, Thorne, Kristen, Felicia and Angela. Two different retcons took away two of his children. The Angela that Eric meets in 1988 turns out to be an impostor who replaced the real Angela when she died in an accident years earlier. In 2001, it was revealed that the biological father of his firstborn, Ridge, was billionaire shipowner Massimo Marone.

Forrester Creations was initially founded with a $50,000 loan from Stephanie’s father, John Douglas, although he disapproved of her marriage to Eric. With Stephanie working on the business side and Eric on the creative side, Forrester Creations becomes a huge success, both in terms of prestige and profits. For a time, those profits are eroded by a far less prestigious competitor, Spectra Fashions, which makes fake fashions all too similar to Forrester designs.

Storylines [ edit ]

When viewers first meet Eric’s wife Stephanie (in the second episode), their marriage is already in trouble. Eric declares the marriage “stale,” while Stephanie blames her troubles on his assistant Margo Lynley, with whom she suspects he is having an affair. Later, Stephanie accidentally brings a real “other woman” into his life when she makes the wrong choice of caterer for her party. One of the employees is his old college flame Beth Henderson, now Beth Logan. After they meet, Eric wants to resume their love affair from thirty years ago. Another employee is Beth’s daughter, Brooke, who later turns out to be an even more serious rival for Eric’s affections.

Eric eventually leaves his wife for Beth, but what brings him back to the Forrester house (if not Stephanie’s bed) is the revelation that he has a 24-year-old daughter he never knew: the microcephalic Angela. Stephanie had pretended to have had a stillbirth to spare Eric the pain of his daughter being so severely disabled. Stephanie had hired a doctor to look after Angela 24 hours a day in a secret house, unaware that Angela would live into adulthood. It turns out that doctor Todd Powell accidentally killed the real Angela years ago. The daughter Eric meets is a perfectly functioning impostor.

Other pressing matters — including the secret, withheld from even the partially amnesiac Thorne himself, that Thorne Ridge shot in the back of the head — are keeping Eric home for a while. And Stephanie’s machinations bringing Beth’s estranged husband back to town keep him off that bed. But then his son Ridge and publishing heiress Caroline Spencer Forrester discover the lies Brooke told to tell them apart, and Caroline leaves Thorne for Ridge, Ridge ends his relationship with Brooke, and Eric becomes attracted to Brooke.

Eric offered comfort to a distraught and emotionally distraught Brooke who watched as Ridge, the man she loved, left her for Caroline after losing the baby she was carrying that belonged to Ridge. Eric began following and supporting Brooke, and she eventually becomes pregnant with Eric’s child. She decides to abort the baby because he is married and leaves town. They keep their affair a secret for a while. Eric was in the middle of a divorce and scared of what Stephanie might do. Stephanie first finds out about the relationship through Thorne, the stunning Stephanie who had no idea her husband and Brooke were even involved as she had worked with Caroline to ensure Ridge would marry Caroline. Unfortunately her plan backfired and Eric, the man she was separated from at the time, married Brooke. Eric marries Brooke and they welcome their first child, Eric Forrester Jr (Rick Forrester). Caroline dies of leukemia. Ridge and Brooke become close again and Brooke decides to divorce Eric to be with Ridge. She becomes pregnant with what she believes to be Ridge’s child, Bridget Forrester, but years later it is revealed that Eric is the father. Eric remains very loving and protective of Brooke.

In 2001, shipowner Massimo Marone came to town and courted Ridge’s mother, Stephanie. Ridge resists his efforts and during a heated argument with him, he deeply cuts his hand. This leads to a hospital visit and the discovery of a doctor who is told to Stephanie that Eric and Ridge’s blood types make it impossible for them to be father and son. Stephanie reveals to Massimo that he is Ridge’s father, who was conceived during a trip to Lake Geneva when she was in college. The truth eventually emerges for both Eric and Ridge, initially adding to the strain on their already strained relationship. However, despite the efforts of Eric’s biological sons, Thorne and Rick – who take advantage of Ridge’s lack of a biological bond to Eric – he continues to favor Ridge over the rest of his children.

In 2005, Eric divorced Stephanie after he found out she faked a heart attack. He rejoins Brooke and they remarry, become co-CEOs of Forrester Creations and fire Stephanie. Stephanie later discovers a trust her father set up for her 40 years earlier that Eric had kept secret, making her the sole owner of the company. She takes over, firing them as CEOs but rehiring them as designers housed in a basement office. The couple divorced the following year, when Brooke ended up back with Ridge (after a brief relationship with Massimo’s other son, Nick Marone) and Eric rejoined Stephanie.

However, in 2007, Eric’s marriage to Stephanie is strained again when he learns that her machinations led to an outcome she had not planned: the rape of Brooke by a stranger, which Stephanie had hoped would seduce Brooke. In a roundabout way, this leads to Eric and Donna Logan, Brooke’s sister, becoming secret lovers. Eric’s family is against this relationship and plans to keep them separate. Nick, who now owns Forrester, makes stephanie’s divorce a condition of selling the company back to Eric. During a Forrester fashion show, Stephanie convinces Thorne and Felicia to lock Donna in a steam room while she’s wearing the showstopper dress, hoping to ruin the show and make Donna look in charge. Stephanie prepares a more devious plan after she is shot and finds out who shot her: Donna’s brother, Storm Logan. She hides her knowledge from the police on the condition that Donna leaves Eric. Stephanie’s plans, and the plans made on her behalf, ultimately fail. She and Eric will sign divorce papers in May 2008 and he and Donna are getting married later this month.

In July 2008, while having sex with Donna, Eric suffers a heart attack and falls into a coma. Donna has his power of attorney, becoming the acting CEO of Forrester Creations. As CEO, Donna promotes Rick, Marcus Forrester (her newfound son, whom Eric adopts) and the mysterious Owen Knight; and she fires Ridge, Thorne, and Felicia. It is later revealed that Eric was intentionally poisoned with potassium chloride, which was likely found in the gin he drank just before his attack. Everyone is a suspect, including Owen Knight, who – out of unrequited love for Donna – confesses to the crime to assuage her. But it turns out that Stephanie’s sister Pamela poisoned Eric by giving him a lemon bar laced with potassium chloride. Her intention was only to weaken him and discredit Donna (thus avenging Stephanie).

Eric eventually recovers, but plans to destroy his marriage continue. Donna gives her enemies ammunition by allowing Owen to kiss her. Just then, Eric—whom she thought was lost forever—is rolled into the room and sees her. He eventually forgives her, but Thorne hires Donna and Owen look-alikes to make out in front of a secret camera (which a suspect Eric installed himself) in Owen’s office. The truth eventually comes out and Eric and Donna stay together.

At one point, Ridge thought Eric was lost forever, too. He even heard Eric’s voice begging his son to let him go. Ridge listens to this grief-induced hallucination and unplugs Eric’s ventilator. Upon his recovery, Eric learns of this apparent betrayal, which allows his younger son Rick (who is biologically linked to Eric, unlike Ridge) to take advantage of this rift. Eventually, Eric fires Ridge and appoints Rick as president of the company. Later, Eric changes his mind and resigns as CEO so he can give Ridge the job. The animosity between Rick and Ridge reaches new heights when Rick accidentally crashes his car, killing his only passenger: Ridge’s daughter, Phoebe. Rick even uses this situation to take advantage of Eric’s pity. But he still can’t get his way, leading to him secretly stealing Forrester designs and giving them to Forrester’s rival: Jackie M. Designs. Eric eventually forgives his son and resists efforts by Stephanie and other family members to prosecute him for his crime.

Forrester’s sales are poor. The public hates Eric and Donna’s marriage. The company looks worse when Eric fires Stephanie, who ends up working for Jackie M., and worse when Thorne and Felicia quit and Brooke takes a leave of absence. And then Pam sabotages the final show by showering Donna — who’s wearing the showstopper dress — with honey, both a nod to Brian De Palma’s 1976 film Carrie (in which the title character is doused in blood) and the well-known habit to be used by Eric and Donna Honig during sex play. All of this – coupled with Eric’s use of illegal immigrants as employees – gives Bill Spencer Jr., the previously unknown illegitimate son of Eric’s old rival Bill Spencer, a chance to take over the company. Bill’s efforts fail until the Forresters are 30 minutes behind on their bank loan. Bill pressures the banker to quit the company and sell it to him. The Forresters are furious, but Eric vows to take the company back. But it is Ridge’s daughter, Steffy, who is able to trick and blackmail Bill into selling the company back to the clan. Eric, Stephanie, Ridge and Taylor Hayes (Steffy’s mother) end up as equal co-owners of the company.

Eric protests when Donna hosts a talk show owned by Spencer Publications called The Catwalk. What’s particularly offensive is how close it brings her to Spencer employee Justin Barber, Donna’s ex-boyfriend and Marcus’ father. Their marriage is strained further after Stephanie accidentally drowns Donna’s mother, Beth, in the Forrester swimming pool. Donna wants to press charges, but Eric refuses to let her. Donna realizes how strong the bonds are between Eric and his ex-wife, and this realization leads to their divorce. When it is revealed that Stephanie has stage four cancer, Eric’s love for her surfaces and the two get back together.

Ridge’s son Thomas (by Taylor) wants to make a name for himself in the fashion industry with a new line called Taboo, which he’s promoting through a scandal: he surprises Brooke with a kiss on the runway. His goal is to exploit the public’s fascination with his stepmother’s pseudo-incestuous romances (with Ridge, Nick, Thorne, and Eric), but Taylor worries that Thomas is genuinely attracted to Brooke. Eric supports the line, leading to a clash with Ridge, who vehemently fights back. At one point, Eric confesses to Ridge that he feels Taboo is taking revenge: Thomas does to his father what Ridge did to his. However, Eric ignores the fact that Brooke was first Ridge’s mistress, fiancée, and almost the mother of his children after she had three miscarriages, and fails to see that he shouldn’t have dated, let alone married, one of his son’s ex-fiancés must.

Eric and Stephanie’s relationship hits a slump when Eric requests a physical approach from his partner, feeling a lack of affection, but Stephanie refuses because cancer makes her unattractive. Eric moves closer to Jackie again. Ridge finds out what’s going on between Eric and Jackie and warns his father not to hurt Stephanie again. Eric decides to respect Stephanie’s choice and goes back to her. The two find happiness again.

In March 2012, Eric and Stephanie remarried in the presence of Gladys Pope. In October of that year, Doctor Lewis informed Stephanie that her lung cancer had returned. Despite the desperate pleas of her family and friends, Stephanie refused to accept treatment; She decided instead that she wanted to enjoy her last days, so Eric planned an Irish-themed party at the mansion in her honor. On November 26, 2012, Stephanie died of cancer at the lake in the Big Bear cabin.

After Stephanie’s death, Eric feels alone and falls into deep despair. In fact, Eric makes two martinis every night, talks to the dead woman, and orders him to move on. The man can’t stop looking everywhere for Stephanie: although he has left her many times in the past, she has never left him, so he had concluded it always would have been, and now doesn’t know how he did it can accept that there is more. His family stands beside him, urging the man to focus on work. Eric discovers the existence of a change in Stephanie’s will, the woman did not allow the future of the company to be in Thomas’ hands, so he admitted his shares to Eric, who was attempting to regain control both legally and patriarchally appease the feud between Thomas and Rick and ultimately the decision of who is the worthy successor to Ridge through a fashion challenge judged by the same Eric. The latter chooses his son Rick as the winner, provoking anger and disappointment in Thomas, elements that prompted him to move to Paris. Though he’s back at the helm of Forrester, Eric continues to feel his wife’s absence.

Eric finds himself surrounded by the love of three women, Pam sharing her grief at the loss of her sister, Donna standing beside him comforting him, and finally Taylor feeling betrayed by Stephanie (the woman asked him to be close by Brooke and not her) and again frustrated by Brooke’s children: On the one hand there is Steffy, who is pregnant with Liam, who has to wait for his election and on the other hand that Thomas wants to go to Paris. Eric starts collecting Taylor’s confidential information and decides to help her. In fact, Eric Thomas offers to stay in Los Angeles by appointing him Vice President of Forrester Creations. Taylor is grateful to Eric and kisses him. The two spend a lot of time together, growing closer and sharing more kisses. Eric confides in Taylor about the lack of intimacy between him and Stephanie, so Taylor promises to wear lingerie for him. Eric is happy again and feels like he doesn’t have to answer to anyone: he’d courted Taylor in the past, but back then he’d always ignored the attraction because of Stephanie. But now Eric and Taylor feel like they don’t have to brake to Stephanie to say it’s what the woman would want for them. During a romantic dinner, Taylor wears lingerie to Eric, but they are interrupted by Brooke. Horrified, he discovers their relationship and accuses Taylor of using her newfound power to influence Eric’s decisions at Forrester. That same evening, Eric and Taylor explain their feelings, then they make love for the first time. When Taylor moves into the Forrester mansion, Brooke is determined to stop her. Eric and Taylor are happy together, and Eric publicly proclaims his love for Taylor, stating that he has finally found happiness after Stephanie’s death. Trouble comes when Brooke asks Eric for a sacrifice: she confesses to him that she is expecting Bill Spencer’s child, her sister Katie’s husband, and asks Eric to pretend to be the father because she doesn’t want to cause another scandal, but Eric refuses , because he is in a committed relationship with Taylor and doesn’t want to ruin her happiness. However, Brooke doesn’t give up and says she wants Eric back in her life. When Brooke miscarries, she asks both Eric and Donna to keep it a secret from Katie, who both agree. But Taylor finds out Brooke’s secrets, and at Brooke’s birthday party, she blurts out that Brooke was having an affair with Bill. Eric and Taylor hit a snag in their blissful relationship because he kept Brooke’s secrets.

Reception [edit]

McCook received Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2001, 2012 and 2018 for his portrayal of Eric. He won the award in 2022.

Here’s why fans think Eric Forrester dies soon on The Bold & The Beautiful

It’s John McCook’s birthday – he just turned 77 – and that may have something to do with why The Bold And The Beautiful fans are pondering the fate of his character Eric Forrester.

McCook has played Forrester on and off since 1987. That means his stint on the show has just spanned three and a half decades.

It also makes him the joint longest-running actor on the show. As of 2013, he and Katherine Kelly Lang are the only remaining original cast members; He has appeared in 3,636 episodes so far.

But for the past few months, rumors have been circulating about Eric Forrester’s fate — whether or not he will die in the coming weeks remains a mystery, but here are the clues fans have found.

Persistent health and heart problems could herald the end of Eric Forrester

If you’ve watched The Bold And The Beautiful for a while, you know that no character dies that easily – and Eric Forrester certainly won’t be an exception.

However, his long-term heart problems could easily cause problems in the coming weeks and months.

In 1993, he suffered his first mild heart attack while soaking in a hot tub. The next time he was near death was in 1997, when the Greenlandic cold almost overwhelmed him.

Eric Forrester then suffered a heart attack that sent him into a coma when Pamela Douglas poisoned him in 2008. And finally, in 2016, he suffered a brain hemorrhage. In other words, Eric’s health isn’t what it used to be.

He lit the candle at both ends

Despite his age — remember, the actor who plays him just turned 77 — Eric Forrester burns the candle at both ends.

He has been cheating on his fourth wife Quinn (formerly Fuller) with his third ex-wife (Donna Logan) since May.

And remember, it wasn’t long ago that he forgave Quinn for cheating on him with Carter.

Now, in the real world, chronic stress has been linked to accelerated aging.

All that excitement, not to mention the impact that the physical exertion of an active sexual relationship with a woman so many years his junior could have on his heart — combined with his ongoing heart problems — might be enough to put Eric Forrester on the edge.

Jennifer Gareis, who plays Donna Logan, is 51 years old, which means the age difference between her character and John McCook’s Eric Forrester is 26 years.

He also bears the burden of guilt for cheating on his wife – although he continues to do so

Eric Forrester is no stranger to guilt.

In 2005, he was found guilty of fraud, embezzlement and grand larceny for hiding a document proving that Forrester Creations was legally owned by his now-deceased ex-wife Stephanie. She kneed him in the groin for this indiscretion, but ultimately kept him company.

Still, the blame gnaws at you. And he kept their rightful possession a secret for over 40 years.

He’s also told Donna Logan in no uncertain terms the weight of guilt he feels over their affair – he says he loves his wife, but he cheats on her on a regular basis.

When Eric Forrester dies and John McCook leaves, The Bold And The Beautiful will have only one original cast member

Katherine Kelly Lang and John McCook are the only two actors to have worked on The Bold And The Beautiful since it debuted in 1987.
